BITV
What is the BITV?
The BITV (Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance) is an ordinance issued by the German government to create barrier-free information technology.
It obliges public bodies to make their websites, mobile applications and digital content accessible to people with disabilities.
Legal Background
The BITV implements the European Directive on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public bodies. It is based on the Disability Equality Act (BGG) and is oriented towards international standards such as WCAG 2.1.
