TYPO3 Localization

TYPO3 Localization is about making your website available in different languages. It allows you to translate content and adapt your site for users from different regions.

Localisation means adapting a website to the language, culture and habits of a target group. It goes beyond pure translation: wording, examples, images, currencies, date formats and legal information are designed so that they feel natural in the respective region.

TYPO3 supports localisation in its core. Pages and content elements can be translated into any number of languages, either freely or as a connection to the source language. The translation can be copied or maintained as independent content. Fallback rules can be set for missing translations.

Editors see all languages side by side in the page module and quickly recognise which content is missing. Extensions and tools such as DeepL help with drafts that are subsequently checked and adjusted. It is important that native speakers do the fine-tuning.

Note technical aspects: texts in templates lie in language files, dates and numbers are formatted regionally, and URLs contain language-specific paths. With hreflang information you show search engines which version is intended for which market.

The content itself should also make local sense. Products, prices, contact options and references differ by country. Decide which content applies globally and which is adapted regionally.

Plan a process for updates so that all versions are at the same level.

Check layouts with longer words, special characters and different writing directions.

Evaluate visitors per language to set priorities.

We localise your TYPO3 website linguistically and technically cleanly.

This way visitors feel welcome everywhere.

Also involve local contacts who give feedback on tone and content. Their hints show where wording feels foreign or examples do not fit and make the website more credible. Add a short glossary of technical terms so that translations stay consistent.
