TYPO3 Custom Extensions

TYPO3 Custom Extensions Explained

Want to add unique features to your TYPO3 site? Custom extensions let you build exactly what you need. Whether it’s a special form, a new function, or anything else, you can create or customize TYPO3 extensions to make your site work just the way you want. It’s a great way to make your TYPO3 Website stand out!

Custom extensions add functions to TYPO3 that it does not offer out of the box or that your company needs in exactly this form. Typical examples are a special product catalogue, a connection to the CRM, an events module with its own logic or a form with complex processes. Instead of bending a standard plugin, a solution is created that fits your process.

Technically, extensions are built with Extbase and Fluid or with their own controllers and middleware. They bring database tables, backend forms, plugins and templates and can be installed via Composer. Development follows TYPO3 conventions so that it can be updated without problems later.

Planning is important: clarify beforehand which requirements are binding, who maintains the extension and how it is tested. Automated tests, clean documentation and versioning make later upgrades considerably easier and cheaper.

Also check whether a suitable standard solution already exists. Often the configuration of an existing extension is enough, and only a small part has to be developed individually. This reduces costs and risk.

We develop tailor-made TYPO3 extensions that are secure, performant and accessible, and accompany them throughout their life cycle with updates and support.

Plan from the start how the extension will be maintained later: who reacts to errors, how are change requests prioritised and when is it adapted for new TYPO3 versions? A small maintenance agreement prevents important functions from failing during an update. Also record the requirements in writing so that years later it remains traceable why a function was implemented this way.

In short: TYPO3 Extensions: Create custom functions.
