They learned a lot about the latest advancements in Symfony and enjoyed networking with developers from all over the world. Some of the highlights included talks on open source software and building dynamic web applications. The conference was well-organized and offered delicious lunch options.
Insights from the EU Open Source Policy Summit
TYPO3 and other open-source CMS (Content Management System) organizations joined forces to advocate for their interests at the EU Open Source Policy Summit in Brussels. The event brought together representatives from open-source projects, governments, and companies that rely on open-source software.
The summit covered a wide range of topics, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the potential for a €10 billion EU fund to support open-source development.
While some believe open source has already achieved widespread adoption, TYPO3 representatives emphasized the importance of considering the needs of small and medium-sized businesses, where open source is still less common.
The summit was a positive step forward for open-source advocacy, and TYPO3 plans to continue participating in these events to ensure the voices of open-source CMS users are heard.

Thomas Schöne, presented an extension called t3_cowriter that allows editors to use GPT-4 to generate text within TYPO3. This can be a helpful tool for getting started on a new piece of content or for overcoming writer's block.
DeepL Integration for Consistent Workflows
Boris Hinzer, CEO of web-vision, a German TYPO3 agency, took the stage to showcase their popular DeepL Translate extension. With over 55,000 downloads, this extension seamlessly integrates DeepL's powerful neural machine translation service into TYPO3.
"DeepL offers exceptionally high-quality translations," Hinzer explained, "often eliminating the need for a human reviewer." This extension supports a whopping 29 source languages and 31 target languages, right out of the box. DeepL even keeps pace with the nuances of language varieties, handling both British and American English, as well as formal and informal speech.
An Image Generator Powered by DALL-E in Your Content Element
At a TYPO3 Camp Munich demo, a user voiced a clear need: "We need that AI image generation button directly within the content element!" Taking this feedback to heart, André and Manuel went a step further. They added a "Generate image with AI" button right where users create content, allowing them to instantly create new images within the content element itself.
Overview of TYPO3's Latest Version: TYPO3 v13.1 - Surfer's Starkit
TYPO3 version 13.1 is here! This new update focuses on making it easier and faster to build websites with TYPO3. Here are some of the key highlights:
- Reuse site configurations: You can now bundle and reuse configurations for different parts of your website or even across different websites. This saves you time and effort.
- Easier page creation: A new feature called "PAGEVIEW" makes it simpler to create website pages using Fluid templates. This is a great option for sites that don't require a lot of customization.
- Improved page tree: The page tree in the TYPO3 backend has been modernized to make it more user-friendly. It now features drag-and-drop functionality, improved search, and a dark mode option.
- New hotkey: A new hotkey "Save and Close" lets you save your work and move on to the next task quickly.
- More database options: TYPO3 13.1 gives developers more options for working with databases.
- Additional languages: The TYPO3 backend now supports three new languages: Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, and Maltese.

New Four TYPO3 Award Categories
The TYPO3 Awards are back and better than ever! This year, there are four new award categories to recognize even more great projects. TYPO3 Awards Submission Open Date - May 2nd.
Here's a quick rundown of what you need to know:
- There are now 16 award categories, including new ones for intranets, media & news, legacy projects, and best TYPO3 Camps.
- Your project must be built with a supported TYPO3 version, be publicly accessible (except intranets), and launched between 2023 and 2024.
- Submissions open on May 2nd, so get your project info ready! There's a fee to submit, but it helps cover the costs of the event.
- The deadline to submit is September 15th. After that, a jury will review the projects and pick the winners.
- The winners will be announced at the TYPO3 Awards Gala on November 28th in Düsseldorf, Germany.
