TYPO3 Grid Elements

TYPO3 Grid Elements make it easy to design and arrange content on your website. They work like building blocks, allowing you to create complex layouts without needing to code.

What They Do:

  • Arrange Content: Place text, images, and other elements exactly where you want them.
  • Easy to Use: Just drag and drop elements into place.
  • Flexible Layouts: Create unique designs with rows and columns.

Why Use Them:

  • Save Time: Quickly build pages without coding.
  • Consistent Design: Keep your website looking uniform and professional.
  • Customizable: Tailor layouts to fit your needs.

Grid Elements help make your TYPO3 website both functional and attractive with minimal effort.

Grid elements are content elements that provide several columns into which editors insert further elements. This creates layouts with two, three or four columns without any code having to be written. They are among the most important building blocks for flexible page design in TYPO3.

In the page module editors choose the grid element, define the number of columns and fill each column with text, images, teasers or other elements. Content can be moved by drag and drop. On small screens the columns usually stack so that the display remains usable on mobile.

Extensions such as Container or Content Blocks provide this functionality. Developers define column widths, permitted content types and spacing so that editors can only choose sensible combinations. This keeps the design uniform and prevents layout breaks.

For good results clear rules are helpful. Define when which column distribution fits and limit nesting. Too many levels make pages confusing and can worsen performance and accessibility. Pay attention to a logical reading order so that screen readers read content out sensibly.

Test grids on different screen sizes and with different amounts of content. Especially long texts or large images can influence the layout.

Document the available variants with examples so that editors make the right choice.

Check spacing and alignment in the design so that content looks harmonious.

Remove unused variants to keep the selection clear.

We develop grid elements for TYPO3 that are flexible and at the same time consistent.

This way varied layouts succeed without effort.

In short: TYPO3 grid elements: Flexible and user-friendly.
