Medartis is a globally leading company in the field of osteosynthesis, specialising in surgical implants for head, extremity and craniomaxillofacial procedures. With subsidiaries in over 40 countries — including Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the USA, Japan and many more – the platform serves a global professional audience of surgeons, medical specialists and institutional partners.
The website must simultaneously deliver highly complex medical product information, country-specific content, regulatory-compliant documentation and interactive features such as 3D models and an eIFU portal – across multiple languages and markets. For a platform of this complexity, stability, performance and precise content management are not optional requirements; they are business-critical.
The Task & Challenges
The goal was to upgrade the existing TYPO3 platform to the latest LTS version while fulfilling a wide range of complex functional requirements – without disrupting ongoing operations or regulatory compliance.

- Upgrade from TYPO3 v11 to v13 with full compatibility analysis

TYPO3 v11 → v13 Upgrade Foundation
We carried out a full technical and compatibility analysis and modernised the core system in a step-by-step process to minimise risks to ongoing operations.

3D Model Compatibility Check
On product-specific pages – such as the APTUS Hand System – we integrated a 3D model compatibility check that helps surgeons identify the right implant for their procedures.

eIFU Portal Integration
Medartis is required to provide electronic Instructions for Use (eIFU) in a regulatory-compliant manner. We integrated the eIFU portal into the TYPO3 platform and ensured that linking, navigation and presentation meet regulatory requirements.
