Org in TYPO3 – Glossary

TYPO3 Org

TYPO3 Org is the backbone of the TYPO3 community. It brings together TYPO3 developers, TYPO3 Agencies, and users from all over the world. Whether you're looking for support, learning resources, or just want to connect with like-minded TYPO3 enthusiasts, TYPO3 Org has it all. It's your go-to place for everything TYPO3 – from extensions and documentation to community events.

The ending .org stands for a top-level domain that was originally intended for organisations. Today it is used by associations, federations, foundations, projects and communities, but also by companies. For TYPO3, typo3.org is the central address of the project and the community.

On typo3.org visitors find information about the system, downloads, documentation, news, events and notes on the TYPO3 Association. Security reports, release plans and access to forums and chats can also be reached from there. The site serves as an entry point for beginners, developers and decision-makers.

When choosing a domain for your own website, the ending is part of perception. Organisations of a non-profit nature often choose .org, while companies in German-speaking countries mostly use .de, .at or .ch because visitors associate these endings with a regional connection. For SEO the ending is not a direct ranking factor, but trust and recognition play a role.

A clean domain configuration and consistent redirects are important. Anyone who owns several endings should define a main domain and redirect the others to it via 301 so that no duplicate content arises. HTTPS is also mandatory.

Check trademark rights and spellings before registering a domain, and secure similar variants to avoid confusion. Keep terms in view so that domains do not expire by accident.

Keep a central directory with credentials and responsibilities for domains.

Pay attention to DNS settings, email authentication and certificates.

Document changes so that moves run cleanly.
