In TYPO3 the term framework refers to the technical foundation on which extensions and websites are built. TYPO3 consists of a core with central functions such as user management, page tree, permissions, caching and database access as well as libraries that developers use for their own solutions.
A framework saves time because standard tasks are already solved. Developers do not have to reinvent a permission system or multilingualism but fall back on tested components. This increases quality, security and maintainability.
TYPO3 relies on proven standards: Symfony components, PSR interfaces, Composer and modern PHP versions. This allows the code to be tested and analysed with common tools, and developers from other PHP projects find their way quickly.
With Extbase and Fluid the system also brings its own framework for extensions. It follows the MVC principle and offers repositories, controllers, validation and templates. For lean solutions, developers can also work directly with the core API.
When choosing the architecture, keep the long term in view. Use interfaces that are officially supported and avoid overriding core classes. This keeps updates manageable.
Documentation and tests also belong here. Those who follow conventions make teamwork easier and reduce onboarding time.
We develop solutions on the TYPO3 framework that are secure, fast and future-proof.
Thanks to the active community, the framework is continuously developed and regularly checked for security.
In short: TYPO3 Framework – Easy Website Building and Management.
