Account in TYPO3 – Glossary

TYPO3 account

A TYPO3 account is your login for managing and updating your TYPO3 website. With this account, you can make changes to your site, add new content and control who else can access and edit your website. It's like your key to the TYPO3 dashboard, where you manage everything related to your website.

An account in TYPO3 is a user’s personal access to the system. A distinction is made between backend accounts for editors and administrators and frontend accounts for visitors who use protected areas. Each account has credentials, permissions and settings.

Backend users belong to groups that determine which pages, modules and functions they may use. This gives authors, reviewers and administrators suitable authority. There should be a separate account for each person so that changes remain traceable and permissions can be withdrawn specifically.

Security is central. Use strong, unique passwords, activate two-factor authentication and lock accounts of people who leave the company. Check regularly who has access and remove superfluous administrator rights.

For frontend accounts, data protection requirements also apply. Collect only necessary data, enable deletion and access and inform about processing. A process for forgotten passwords and account locks reduces support effort.

Password policies, session duration and login attempts can be configured. Limit failed logins to make attacks harder and log sign-ins.

Clean onboarding and offboarding are part of it: accounts are created as needed and deactivated promptly when someone leaves.

Train users in the safe handling of credentials and phishing.

Document roles and responsibilities so that permissions are assigned traceably.

We set up accounts, roles and security measures in your TYPO3 system.

This keeps access protected and practical.

Also define emergency accesses that are used only in exceptional cases, and secure them especially well.
