TYPO3 CKEditor

TYPO3 CKEditor makes editing your website’s text easy and fun. It’s like a supercharged word processor that lets you format text, add images, and create links with just a few clicks. You don’t need any special skills—just type, style, and save. It’s a great tool for keeping your TYPO3 website content looking great!

CKEditor is the rich text editor of TYPO3. It turns the text field in the backend into a workspace that works like a word processor: you format headings, bold or italicise text, create lists, set links and insert tables or images. In the background the editor produces clean HTML without editors having to know code.

The configuration options are particularly practical. Administrators decide which functions are displayed, which style templates are available and which elements are allowed. This keeps the design consistent because editors can only use approved markup. Colours and font sizes can also be limited in a targeted way.

Since TYPO3 8, CKEditor has been used in its current version, which can be extended through plugins. Examples are spelling aids, character counters, special characters, links to internal pages and files or AI assistants. Configuration is done via YAML files that can be versioned and reused for several projects.

For accessibility the editor is an important place: if only real headings and lists are offered, semantically clean content is created. Avoid formatting that only has a visual effect and train editors in handling alternative texts and link texts.

We adapt CKEditor to your requirements, develop your own style templates and ensure a configuration that combines quality and ease of use.

After larger TYPO3 updates, check whether your editor configuration still works as desired. Custom plugins and styles in particular occasionally need adjustment when the editor version changes. A short test with typical editorial tasks such as setting a heading, inserting a link and creating a table quickly shows whether everything is in order.

In short: Simple text editing with TYPO3 CKEditor.
