TYPO3 Caretaker

TYPO3 Caretaker helps you keep an eye on your website’s health. It checks your site for problems and makes sure everything is working as it should. If there’s an issue, the caretaker alerts you right away so you can fix it quickly. With a caretaker, you can relax knowing your TYPO3 site is in good hands!

Caretaker is a monitoring tool for TYPO3 installations. A central instance queries the state of several websites at regular intervals and reports when something is wrong. This is especially helpful for agencies that look after many client projects because they do not have to check each site individually.

Typical checks concern availability, the TYPO3 and PHP version, available security updates, the state of extensions and the response time. Custom tests can be added too, for example whether a specific page delivers the expected content. The results appear in an overview that shows the status with traffic-light colours.

When something stands out, Caretaker sends notifications by email or to other channels. That way you react to problems before visitors notice them and can plan updates in a targeted way. The history also helps to recognise recurring disruptions.

It is important to secure the connection between the central instance and the website and to reveal only as much information as necessary. We set up monitoring for your TYPO3 sites and take care of the necessary updates so that your websites stay stable and secure.

Decide which thresholds count as a warning and which as an error. A response time of a few seconds may still be acceptable for a large site but critical for a landing page. Good settings prevent false alarms and ensure that real problems are taken seriously. Discuss responsibilities for alerts in the team and record who can be reached for an alarm outside office hours.
