Export in TYPO3 – Glossary
TYPO3 Export
TYPO3 Export refers to the process of taking content or data from a TYPO3 website and saving it in another format or transferring it to another system. This can include exporting articles, pages or other site elements to formats such as CSV, XML or JSON. It helps to back up data, move content between websites or integrate with other tools.
The export in TYPO3 makes it possible to transfer pages, content and files from one installation into a file. This file can be imported into another TYPO3 installation. This is practical for moving content between test and live systems, passing on templates or creating backups of individual areas.
In the backend you select the desired page or records, decide whether subpages and referenced files should be included, and start the export. The result is usually a T3D file or an XML package that contains all selected data including relations.
Note that page IDs and references are reassigned during import. It is therefore important that extensions and configurations match on both systems so that content is displayed correctly. After the import, check links, images and language versions.
Besides exporting content there are also exports of data, such as form results, addresses or statistics in CSV format. Such files often contain personal information and must be stored and deleted in compliance with data protection.
For larger projects a documented process with fixed times, responsibilities and tests is recommended. This prevents errors from going unnoticed when content is moved.
We support you with export, import and migration of content in your TYPO3 projects and make sure everything is displayed completely and cleanly after the move.
Create a backup before larger exports and test the import first on a separate system. This lets you recognise missing dependencies early and avoid problems on the live site.
In short: What is TYPO3 Export? Save and transfer data with it.
