**Easy Language** (in German: *Leichte Sprache*) is a simplified form of communication designed to make written information easier to understand, especially for people with:

- Learning disabilities
- Cognitive impairments
- Limited reading or language skills
- Low literacy
- or people new to the language

Easy Language follows strict rules:

- Short and clear sentences (usually only one idea per sentence)
- Everyday vocabulary without complex or foreign words
- Active voice instead of passive
- Use of supporting visuals like symbols or icons
- Clear layout and readable fonts

Unlike plain language, which improves clarity for the general population, Easy Language is intended for a specific audience with higher comprehension needs. It is often used by public authorities, social institutions, and websites to meet legal requirements for accessibility.

Easy Language contributes significantly to **digital and social inclusion**, allowing more people to understand their rights, services, and opportunities.
